KATHMANDU, JUNE 18

Newly appointed Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokharel is set to take a floor test during the provincial assembly session, today.

He will undergo a vote of confidence motion at 11:00 am.

Pokharel was appointed as CM of the province on June 12 by Gandaki Governor Sita Kumari Paudel, in line with Article 168(5) of the Constitution.

He was backed by 31 lawmakers of the opposition alliance, in the 60 member strong provincial assembly, including lawmakers from Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Centre and Rashtriya Janamorchha.

The Constitution of Nepal requires the the new CM, appointed after an incumbent CM is replaced by them following a trust motion, to receive a vote of confidence within a month of appointment.
